On January 2, 2021, at the eighty-eighth year, the master of sports of the USSR in basketball, candidate of technical sciences, professor of the department of physical education of KNURE Evgeny Borokhovsky passed away.

His contribution to the history of sports is invaluable: for many years he multiplied the glory of Kharkov basketball, playing for the SKA teams (Kiev) in the USSR championship, as part of the Kharkov national team, he became a prize-winner of the Ukrainian SSR Spartakiad (1959), worked as a coach of the «Builder» team (Kharkov). The student teams of Kharkov headed by him became champions and prize-winners of student championships of the Ukrainian SSR.

Darina Krivanych, a student of the ITM faculty, celebrates the New Year in a good mood – by the order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports she was awarded the honorary sports title “Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in kickboxing WTKA”. For many years, Darina, at competitions of the highest level, has been demonstrating a high level of technical skill, physical fitness and moral and volitional qualities. In fierce competition with the leaders of the world kickboxing, she repeatedly became the world champion among cadets, juniors and adult athletes. We congratulate Darina on high sports achievements and wish further success in her studies and sports.

On December 27, 2020 in the sports complex of NAU “KhAI” the Championship of the Kharkov region in wrestling sambo among juniors and juniors was held.

In December, the XXII volleyball tournament in memory of the Honored Coach of Ukraine Volodymyr Ponomarenko took place. In the nomination “Students”, the national teams of KNURE, men and women, took 1st place.

On December 12, 2020, the traditional open championship of the University in kickboxing, a popular sport in Ukraine and the world, was held in the KNURE sports hall. The participants of the championship, and these were students and graduates of our institution of higher education, demonstrated high sportsmanship and noble behavior of high-level masters. According to the results of the competition, a national team of KNURE will be formed to participate in city and regional kickboxing competitions.

December 6, 2020 in the park Gorky hosted the traditional annual run “Meet Winter”. Students of our university took part in a distance of 6 km. and 12 km. Winners of the 12 km competition. steel Evgeny Shelkovoj ITSHI-19-2, Nazar Franko KIUKI-17-6. At a distance of 6 km. distinguished themselves Olga Tregub ITKN-17-9, Ekaterina Simon ITKN-17-9, Kirill Chernov PZPI-19-2, Dmitry Sokolenko ITSHI-18-1. Scientists of the department Anna Grokhova and Alyona Prisych took part remotely in the III International Scientific and Technical Conference “ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF AUTOMATION AND INSTRUMENTATION”, which was held at the National Technical University “Kharkov Polytechnic Institute” using the Google Meet service.

Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering Professor Oleg Avrunin made a joint report of the MEDICAL AND BIOLOGICAL DEVICES AND SYSTEMS section, in order to be able to test nasal breathing in athletes, who showed a retrospective of methods of functional studies of the state of the upper respiratory tract and highlighted promising areas of research to improve the effectiveness of training in various sports.

On November 25, 2020, on the basis of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the “KNURE Open Boxing Tournament” was held.
In organizing and conducting the tournament, the teachers of the PhES department E. Ponomarenko, R. Khromykh, A. Litvinenko, G. Krukovsky took an active part.
8 athletes took part in the competition, who demonstrated good technical and tactical training and will to win.
The winners in their weight categories are:
Dmitry Ryabovol (AKTAKIT-17-1), Veronica Roshka (PZPI-18-6), Veronika Govorova (PZPI-19-7), Nazar Kuznetsov (KIUKI-20-8), Nikita Sagaidachny (PZPI-19-2) and student of KhNUE Yaroslav Spesivtsev.
Silver medalists were: Konstantin Shramenko (KNT-20-6), Boris Bashkir (AKTAKIT-19-2).
